Śaiva Siddhānta

Śaiva Siddhānta is a dualist Āgamic Śaiva tradition (c. 6th–12th c. CE) teaching that the soul, bound by impurity, is freed through initiation, ritual and grace to attain likeness with Śiva. Once pan-Indian, it survives most vigorously in Tamil Nadu.

Historical development
