Vedic Tradition
The Vedic tradition is the oldest layer of Indian religious and contemplative culture, centred on the Vedas — Ṛg, Yajur, Sāma and Atharva — and their ritual (yajña), hymnic and cosmological vision (c. 1500–500 BCE). It established the vocabulary of sacrifice, sound and cosmic order (ṛta) from which later philosophy, meditation and yoga grew.
