Upaniṣadic Tradition
Aupaniṣada / Upaniṣadic Tradition
The Upaniṣads (c. 800–200 BCE) turn the Vedic gaze inward, replacing external sacrifice with knowledge of the self. They introduce the great equations of ātman and brahman, the syllable Oṃ, breath (prāṇa) and meditative absorption — the conceptual seedbed of both Vedānta and classical yoga.
